Differeces between COB & SMD

Today we will talk about COB and SMD processes in LED display production. They are different methods, like different cooking recipes, leading to distinct display effects and features.

SMD, Surface Mounted Device, involves precisely welding individual LED chips onto a circuit board, akin to placing tiny light bulbs. It's a mature, low - cost technology with easy maintenance. If a bulb fails, just replace it. However, the surface has slight gaps between separate bulbs, appearing less smooth. Also, heat dissipation may be slightly inferior in high - density displays.

COB, Chip - on - Board, directly mounts many small chips as a module onto the circuit board, like pre - processing ingredients and plating them all at once. Its advantages include a smoother display surface, better heat dissipation, and more delicate image quality due to integrated packaging. Yet, it's more costly and troublesome to repair, as a faulty module requires whole replacement.

In summary, SMD suits cost - sensitive clients with less extreme display requirements, while COB is ideal for high - end visual - effect - pursuing scenarios. Choose based on your budget and needs.
